A Thousand Thank-Yous is a collage of videos which show (mostly) straight white men asserting their ability to ‘be’. This collage of clips has been overlaid with a looped clip of the artist saying thank you 1000 times.
This thank you is a ‘thanks for nothing’, in response to all the oppressive behaviors that straight white men are usually guilty of. These behaviors have paved the way for a set of patriarchal ideals which the next generation have had to live up to and deal with.
Andrew J. Burford is a queer artist who was raised in South Africa and currently resides in Berlin. After completing his degree in London he moved to Australia and has since spoken and been exhibited internationally in the USA, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom.
